if you want a touring bike , and you don't have a desire for any specific brand (in other words not me or 90% of the people on this forum) it would be pretty hard to find a better bike for the job .
for me it's just too much technology , i ride to get away from complicated stuff , i don't want a bike that requires a computer engineering degree to figure out everything on it . i don't want the ability to take a phone call while i ride , don't need forward and reverse walking mode (whatever that is) and i learned how to start a bike going uphill a long time ago .

I doubt it. Harley touring riders made that decision years ago. Goldwings have been smoother, more powerful and more technologically sophisticated than Harley touring bikes since at least 1988 when the 1500/6 came out. They’ve never been much of a threat to HD and I doubt they will be anytime soon.
