Looks like I should just get all three! Thanks for the input guys. I still have some tire kicking to do and since my neck won’t be healed for at least 9 more weeks I have some time.
Well if you have 9 more weeks, then that should be plenty of time to choose a Road King, because you can dress them up for cost to cost, or strip them down for bar to bar. You can even soup up the engine for red light to red light.
A test ride is worth a thousand words, the type of riding I believe has a bearing on what one prefers. For me the FLHR is a sweet heart, low speeds back roads, windshield off on hot days. However all weather riding at highway speeds I would choose a different animal. Did rent a Road Glide in Tucson for a couple of days but could hardly wait to get off it and back to the King. We as individuals are all different so pick your poison carefully.

Second that. Suit the bike to the mission. If it's really mixed, and you don't mind the time to set up the bike for the ride, the Road King has versatility.
Had a Fatboy, then Roadking, Road Glide Custom, Road Glide Ultra then back to a Road King, and now 14’ Street Glide. I’ve known a couple of guys to put a detach batwing on their RK’s, but they never came off. I like all 3, but I decided to settle on a SG because I wanted to listen to music/podcasts without earbuds. Earbuds were fine at first, but grew tiresome. The only issue with the RG was buffeting. It took quite a few shields to find the ‘right’ one. Found a SG that had an 8” LRS recurve and the wife says it’s pretty much the same wind management as the RK. No buffeting, but the fairing vent is responsible for that.
