Default For some it's pipes/others windshields

I'll admit it. I can't seem to settle on a windshield for my Street Glide so I end up taking them on and off frequently. With my old Fatboy, it was simple; I had one full size windshield and it was either on for the full touring feel and look or it was off for the wind in your face sleeker look. I did get to where it was on most of the time, particularly if I knew I'd be running up past 70MPH on any given ride. I just got real tired of the beating wind at that speed can give you. So now with the Street Glide I've got more sizes and brands than I care to admit, and I tend to be swapping them out all the time. About as small as I ever go anymore is my Cee Bailey Standard shaped 7" opaque shield. It's low enough to look sleek, but still offers decent wind protection, unless there is a pretty health wind swirling around. If I take off for 75-100 miles with it on, sometimes I'm wishing I had more protection by the time I get home. When I put the 9" Cee Bailey Standard design, or 13" Cee Bailey SSC on it, I get much better wind protection, and a smoother ride, but I'm feeling like I might as well be riding a Classic or Ultra.I see a LOT of SG's with the stock 4" windshield on them and the riders seem to be indifferent to the windor turbulence, and when I have the taller shield on, it makes me want to go home andput the shorter one back onI honestly think that SG's look ok with the taller windshields giving them a kind of downward sloping look from the shield to the back bumper. but I do find the shorter windshields appealing from an aesthetics viewpoint. I'm getting tired of swapping these things on and off. I'd like to leave one size or the other on full time, independent of the length of the ride, or the speed I plan to travel at and still retain the sleek good looks of the SG. How many of you, regardless of distance or speed have your StreetGlides equiped with at least an 8" or taller windshield and keep it that way for the reasons mentioned above? I'm 6' tall by the way and I suppose thatcan make for all kinds of answers. Pic's are welcome!

well, i dont have an 8" one. i did swap to a 6" though. im 5'9' and it is just almost right. still a bit of harder buffeting at interstate speeds, but nothing to bad. i think i would like to have a recurve 6". but i will wait for now.

its a fast aire 6"

I have an 8" from Fast Aire and I love it. Keep it on all the time. I'm 6'3" and its tall enough for me.

I put on the 8" fastaire "aero" with therecurve and it took almost all the wind buffeting off my helmet. I'm 5'10" and it works great.Good prices and good company.

Man, I wish I was addicted to changing windshields instead of exhausts............would have saved me a lot of money. 3 - $40 windshields vs. 8 - $400-$700 exhausts.....good thing for eBay and the classified forums.

I've had 4" dark tint, 8" dark tint, and 9" dark tint.........and for me the best one is the 9" dark tint. I'm 6'2" and with the Mustang solo seat combo, the 9" is about 2" below my eyes.

There is a "right" way to see what size windshield you need.......you are supposed to sit on the bike in your normal riding position and have someone take a level and go even with your eyes out to the windshield. Measure down 2", then measure up from the top of the fairing to that point and that is the correct height of the windshield that you need. You are supposed to look over the windshield not thru it.

I have used these windshields and think they are great, they are wider than stock and really help buffeting. I have used the 8"9"and 10" settling on the 9".
