First up, ditched the floorboards and added a Saddlemen StepUp. Bars are next......cant decide between and bar/riser combo or a one piece MX bar......
one piece looks a little cleaner, but bars and risers are nice if youre picky like me - much more adjustable.
I agree. I run the Lucky Daves MX bar on my FXD and they are a solid piece.
Decisions, decisions.....
had lucky Daves lucky 13s on my fxdls
did the kraus set up and I like to too, a bit more adjustability
just added legends front and rear, now waiting for my Road Warrior fairing to come in
Cant decide to keep the chrome theme, have a mixed contrast or black it out...
Looks like the RK builds are starting to gain some momentum on the thread! Since my bike is parked for winter I've been working on some winter upgrades. So far I have done an external breather setup by tapping into the stand-off's on the back of my OEM style air filter. Next I opened up the top of the cover to expose more of my K&N as there was about a 1/3 of the filter that wasn't getting very much air with the factory cover. I think it gives the bike a more aggressive look.
Next up I'm going to vent my crankcase. I was looking at doing the vented dipstick from Fueling but then I discovered that on water cooled bikes you can remove the oil return line cover that feeds back into the bike. So that went from a 300$ solution, to a10$ solution. You can then install the fitting that goes on the oil cooled bikes and hook up a hose to that, and vent to atmosphere.
I'm also looking at doing a full MJK T-Bar setup with top triple tree. I have the FXR 12" Motorwhich bars on there now but I find myself reaching a bit too much with them, even with them pulled back. I think I should have gone with the 14". I want to upgrade to T-bars because it bothered me that I have fully adjustable forks that can't be adjusted (easily) or seen. I also like that the TBars are more modular for ergo adjustments. I didn't want to spend the money on them the first go round but I'm going to bite the bullet. I'll take some pics of the new setup!
Gaining momentum indeed - buddy of mine gave me his old stock street bob tubes - put those on tonight and have a set of 14" RWD shocks coming on Tuesday. Should be a fun ride when I get them dialed in. Will definitely be changing tires when the stock ones are roasted - not aggressive enough of a tread profile/grip for my taste.
Glad you brought tires up, what are you guys running for rubber out there?
I switched to Metzler Cruise Tecs on my bike and have been very happy with them. They have a really good "turn in" feel to them where it feels easier to get the bike to lean over for a turn, or leaning the bike from one side to another. I also believe they are a dual compound tire with softer rubber on the sides for turning. I think they strike a good balance between pure performance tires and touring tire for life span.

Funny, I have 12" motorwitch bars on my RG also. I have tbars/bars and risers on everything else but was trying to avoid relocating the gauges and all that on this new one.
I find myself reaching too much as well. Looks like Im gonna be switching to a pullback riser setup too....lol, shouldve done it in the first place I guess.
MJK is crazy though lol - definitely nice but man they're proud of it - I'll probably run bungking stuff and KNS customs gauge relocation for like $500 total instead. 2K for bars is insane to me.
