I was thinking of visiting the rally in Sparks, Ok this weekend, but have heard that if it has been raining, which it has, it is nothing but a mud pit. Is that so? I have never been and was looking forward to some Harley socializing.
You live in Broken Arrow, OK and you can't tell by the amount of rain we've had that it WON'T be a mud bog? Take your 4x4 and leave your Ultra at home......if you REALLY want to go. I doubt it will be very well attended this year. It has a reputation for being a bit less "savory" than most of us care to experience......or so I'm told.
Mr Wonderful, thank you for the advice. Yes, I am very aware of all of the rain here in NE Ok, but I am very unfamiliar with Sparks, Ok. As I said in my earlier post, I have never been there, so I have no idea of what type of rally it is, the location, paved or unpaved roads, etc. I was justlooking for something to do and heard about the rally, soit was an idea. Based on your comments, it looks like it is a rally I would probably not enjoy, as I do not like ridingin mud, unlessI am in/on something made for that kind of riding. In addition to thebitless "savory" kind of rally, this is something I would tend to stay away from also.
Puzzled, thank you also for the reply. I don't mind the soap and water, but I just cleaned my bike and it really looks good, so I will pass on Sparks, but you can bet I will find somewhere to ride.
Smart move, Dennis! That Vivid Black Ultra is too shiny to go mud boggin', and it do get slick, especially with our Oklahoma clay soil.
You'd spend 6 hours cleaning it up....minimum.
Myers-Duren Tulsa #1 HOG Chapter had a ride today to Grand Lake. Almost always a Saturday ride that leaves at 10AM from the dealership, if you are looking for a good group of folks to ride with.
Mr W. I am actually a member of MD Tulsa #1 HOG Chapter. I knew about that ride, but the past several Saturday mornings have been booked with work issues. Saturday work sucks! To be honest, I have never been on a group ride (more than 2) of any kind. I think they would be alot of fun but I need to step into it. I know about the newcomers ride and apparantly I have shyed (?) away from that too. Most of my riding has been solo or meeting a friend somewhere and a short ride afterwards. I am one of those people who started riding 25+ years ago and then the family thing took over, so no riding for 20 yrs, and now kids grown, empty nest, and new bike. Actually 2 new bikes last year. 06 Sporty purchase March 06 and then traded for 07 Ultra July of 06.
We just back from there and yes on my new Ultra, as always had a great time! very little little rain there and the roads are in great shape! They have been laying new gravel and packing it down to keep the road dry and drivable.. As far as the people just like any other rally all types and backgrounds depends on you habg with, My wife is very nice looking with full C naturals and we have never had any problems, everyone is very respectfull! it amazes me how people form opions on what they had head without actuall being there, good god it's a bike rally with drinking and nudity same oh sameoh but this place has a ton of security and a full time medical staff with ambulance on the premises, Tony the owner puts in a lot of time and money to make sure everyone can have a nice secure time.
Forgot to add some of the local yokes are road blocking and stoping people leaving at night this year so you might want to plan to stay awhile if you drink, we set up a camp site and sleep till early in the am (5 am) and then went to out motel in Chandler and showed etc. didn't have any problems..
