My tail light on my 06 FLHTC stopped working last night (blown fuse). The brake light still works. To make a long story short, after a little troubleshooting on the side of the road in the dark, I believe that I have a short somewhere in the main harness. (with the tail light harness unplugged under the seat, it will still blow the fuse). Anyone have any thoughts on where the problem likely might be? Thank you very much.
Well am assuming you have a bagger, so your FRONT turn signals also are on that same fuse for running lights.(why yes you do ,I just reread your post and saw the model)
Try unplugging them one at a time and check for a short there also.
Also find and check the wire to the plug for the tour pak lights. You may not have them installed, but Harley still provides the plug for them, which is also on that same circuit.
It should be on the left side of the bike near the rear shock area. It may of come loose and got pinched and is shorting out.
Thanks for the help guys.I found the problem today. It was the front fender tip wiring. I hate to admit it, but it was my fault. I had replaced the lighted tip with an unlighted one. I did not remove the wiring because at some point I'm sure the lighted one will be going back on. Then.... I did not protect the bare pins on the wiring good enough and they shorted on each other. What a dope!!!! Thanks again.

Everyone can make mistakes."
[sm=guilty.gif]I'll have to admit that I am more than capable of making plenty of mistakes myself (the mind is turning to junk at an alarming rate). I guess I just don't like the idea of paying someone big $$$ to make these mistakes that I am more than capable ofmaking myself.
[sm=funnypostabove.gif] Too Funny Nitram...... lololol. I too can make those same mistakes ... just wonder why I don't get paid for 'em like the dealer does?
