Installed torque cones
I installed the 4 new exhaust stud's and slipped in the torque cones while I had the head pipe off. It was literally as easy as just sliding them in. I torqued the nuts onto the studs to factory specs and then put everything back together.
I had taken off my CFR slip ons a month or so ago because I lost all bottom end torque with them on. I loved the way they sounded so I wanted them back on which is why I installed the torque cones. I reinstalled the CFR's and took her out for a spin.
Well, after 700 miles this week I can honestly say that the torque cones do their job. I'm not saying that I get the bottom end torque of my cvo pipes but I definitely regained a bunch of the bottom end that I lost with the CFR's. I didn't have the bike dyno'd or anything so I don't have any proof on paper. What I do have is seat of the pants dyno. I feel the bottom end again when I take off from a stand still. And I'm keeping up with a friends 103 again off the line.
It also changed the sound if the CFR's. At idle it's a little deeper and then at cruising speed I get a little raspier sound out of the pipes than normal. For those that run CFR's you know how deep and loud those pipes are. Now they're just a little raspier.
I wanted to take a video and a sound clip but listening to the sound on my phone just didn't do it justice. I even used my hero 4 to take a video while riding but it just didn't give the right sound.
All in all I think the $9 I spent on the cones was worth the money spent to regain my lost torque and I recommend them to anyone who asks. They're easy to install and change the sound pleasantly.
