Default Tire Recomendation, Please.

I have a 2107 Street Glide Special. With the exception of additional lighting, it is all stock. My front tire is at 4/32, and my rear is 8/32. I figure I have about 2,000 miles left on the front tire. My odometer is currently at 13,000 miles-it is a dealer rental fleet bike. Since I shouldn’t mix and match, I may change the tires both at once.

I live in Southwest Florida, so I ride all year. I am 6’ and weigh 240 lbs. I ride almost exclusively solo. I don’t peel out or smoke the tires. I ride conservatively. Most of my trips are local.

Recommendations? Thank you.

This will be subjective as you'll get a few different opinions. I'm partial to Dunlop American Elites.

I have the Dunlop AE on my Road King. Nice handling but mileage is not great. Have been running Metzeler 888 but also like the Dunlop e III. I understand they have since come out with an e IV???

I like the Metzler marathon 888......LONG life so far on the rear.....got about 12k miles on it and got tons of tread left........still got 20k on the front 880 with plenty of tread too.....stable and comfortable.

2107 Street Glide? Aren't they offering that with their new-fangled anti-grav pods?

Actually, new front tire tread depth is 5/32" & new rear tire tread depth is 10/32" so I would suggest both are wearing evenly (1/5 of total new tread depth used on both front & rear) so when you're closer to replacement time, you'll probably be looking at replacing both at the same time.

Welcome aboard. I'm jealous cuz mine's awaiting spring temps & roads w/o salt.

I love my Avon Cobra's on my 2011 RK. I buy the pair when they have a rebate, usually Dennis Kirk or Riders Domain (Rocky Mountain Motorsports)
If your OK with black walls, Michelin Commander II's are good
American Elite Dunlops are good but high dollar.
I have run all but the Dunlops, the Cobra's have a good balance between sticky, ride handling and wear. I'll buy them again.

My thought was to get them done at the 15,000 service. The Metzlers get great reviews at Dennis Kirk.

Now that begs the question: do dealers upcharge in any way when you bring your own tires? I am naive with regard to HD-I come from Japanese bikes.

I was also a nut to think that most of you would be leaning toward one brand and tire, but you guys are no different than my cohorts on guitar and gun forums.
