I recently had my 04 EGC lowered and it works great but it seems like the rear end wants to bottom out easily. I have tried air pressure from o-25 PSI and it doesn't seem to change much. So what Iam wonderingis do these shorter shocks simply not have enough travel to get a good ride ? ? ? Would I be better off with the stock shocks and the lowering brackets to regain the travel ? ? ? ?
iF i GO WITH THE 440 SHOCKS SHOULD i GET THE 11.5 OR THE 12" this is foe an EGC and I will be riding double loaded at times. Will I lose too much travel with the 11.5 ?
I put a set of take-off Street Glide shocks on my '07 Road King to lower the rear end. I really like the lowered look, but it's come at the expense of shock travel. The truth is, the Street Glide shocks don't offer the same quality ride that the stock Road King shocks did. It's not usually a problem with just me on the bike, but when I go two-up, it takes about 30 lbs pressure to minimize bottoming out. What that translates to is a harsher ride two-up than before. But I got the shocks for $100, which is a lot less expensive than the Works or Progressive alternatives that I cannot afford right now.
