I have no need for the cigarette lighter and want switch it out for the Auxiliary Power Port, part# 91843-97. Are they both the same diameter? Also looking to connect the Auxiliary Power Port to the Auxiliary on/off switch. Has anyone done this? I placed this same questions on the HD's On-Line store, but never received an answer.
If its designed to replace a cig lighter plug, which it looks like, then it will fit. The size is pretty much universal.
As for wiring, that would just be a matter of running a wire to the acc sw plug, where ever yours happens to be.
Kind of confused here. Remove the cig. lighter from the hole, and plug in your accessory plug. Why do you need to change anything? I've been using the lighter plug to charge and run items for years. It works fine.
Why make things harder than they need to be?

Might get a little better weather proofing on a dedicated power outlet vs having an adapter placed into the cig lighter. Lose the flexibility to power things that have a cig lighter plug though, like air compressors and some GPS.
That said, I've been running a dual USB adapter in my cig lighter continually for 2 seasons with no issues. Been caught in the rain more than once...

I was going by what the Touring Owner Manual states, "Do not use cigarette lighter socket to power electrical devices. Automotive electrical plugs can damage the socket, which can result in improper lighter operation and overheating that could cause equipment damage."

News to me. I use the one in my car the same way, never any issues. Shouldn't be an issues with "improper lighter operation", if you're not using it anyway.
I use one of these.
Never had any issues with water either.
My cig lighter was not holding the element. original lost, replacement would not stay in place. not many of my plug ins would stay. And whatever I used stuck out far enough to hit the tank. So I replaced with a usb outlet. I did have to take a dremel tool and open the hole a bit, but light touches opened it up nicely. The new usb port fits flush, the adapters plug in and don't stick out far. and it has a cover. Go for it!!! easy job... all of 20-30 minutes start to finish.
