Default Stage 2 rev limiter setting?

What are you guys shifting or setting your rev limiters at on your Stage2 103s. Trying to set it up with my FP3. I’m thinking 6,500 is to high.

My thinking is there is a good chance your bottom end is stock, correct?
My thinking also is these are a fragile, heavy pushrods motors to start with, (bearings, lifters, crank out of round from factory etc), so what is to be gained by increasing the redline from the factory limit?
Just sayin

Stock bottom end. S&S lifters thinner head gaskets and Andrews 57 cams. Just trying to figure out my power band drop off for shifting.

Wind it out till it noses over, set the limited a few hundred RPM before that. Mine falls on its face long before the stock limiter. There's really not much to be gained turning these things past 5000 without a set of massive cams and heads that have no port velocity and aren't good till 4K and up. I've tried it.

Sounds good. What was stock limit? Looking at dyno graphs the 57s look done at 5,600-5,800 rpm.

I had the 37s in my 95" which are supposed to run the same from my understanding. My limiter was set for 6500 and it pulled hard all the way.

6200rpm with 57's. FM sets it to this also.

I have 3 Twin Cams, each with mods: a stage I, a stage II, and one with stage III.

All were bumped up to 6200rpm..... never a problem with any of them.

I have to admit, the '03 with a big bore kit (stage III) has been known to hit the rev limiter once in awhile.....
