My cruise control decided to be finicky coming on for several weeks. The green light would come on like it was working, but the bike wouldn't go into cruise. After fiddling with it several times, it would light up green and go ahead and work. Now it has stopped working altogether. The indicator light stays red. I have sifted through several other threads about non-working cc's, but none of them seem to fit my problem. I also have an older bike than most of the others, so I'm wondering if the same diagnostic tricks will work on mine as well. Thanks in advance!
I don’t suppose you have the electric diagnostic manual for your bike? Cruise control problems are explained and how to diagnose in that manual. Brake switch could cause problems with cruise as can a faulty roll off switch on your throttle cable for starters.
Mine went crazy on ride to Myrtle Beach last year. Cruise would come on for awhile and then go off also gas gauge would not work. Long story short had a bad neutral light switch in clutch lever. Replaced and that fixed problem.
We went through the cruise diagnostics tonight. The one that blinks out your codes were either 122, or 312(I think... it was 31 something) According to the chart from a different thread, this would indicate front/back brake, or system malfunction (whatever that means).
The other check where where you are supposed to be able to check your switches, I wasn’t able to make it past the first step. The red light would quickly blink green and then go back to red.
