Default Swing Arm Fitment Help

Will a 2003 or newer swing arm bolt right up to my 99 frame? I have been told it will, just checking in with the gang for reassurance before I pick one up. Thanks much, Bryan

I did at one, wasn't too confident on his answer. "Yeah it should, don't see why not".Ireallywas looking for a Yep no worries or a Nope won't work answer. I'm going to check with another Dealer just seeing if anybody was in the know or had tried it here on the forum.

I don't think so. The 99 uses a smaller diameter swingarm axle. The 2002(?) and newer axle won't fit through the hole in the '99 transmission. It might be rigged by making custom bushings to let the new swingarm pivot on the old smaller axle.

This guy is correct. Several members over on HTT have converted their pre-02 bike's swingarms over, but they had to ream the transmission case to accept the larger pivot shaft...From what I understand this is not something a laymen should do. You need to make several passes taking small cuts and come in from each side, meeting in the middle to ensure you have a 'true' reaming...If the axle is not running true, there is risk that the stresses could crack the transmission case; or make the bike not track correctly.

I believe there is an outfit out there making a conversion kit though that doesn't require the reaming, but I can't remember which company that was off hand.
