Alright Dudes! Been mullin' this one over for a couple of years and decided to take the plunge and pull the trigger.
I installed a permanent mounted heated gear controller in the console of my road king.
I still have to do some finish work with the led lights but so far so good except I had to squish the console down quite a bit to get all the wires and what not to fit...so I may pull it off and try to rework the wires again.
If anyone has got any ideas on how to finish the LEDs I would appreciate suggestions. Right now I am thinking of just putting some type of washer around them and filling it in with clear nail polish. Adding pics below.
They look like the kinda point in different directions as well. Also considering replacing the chrome **** with red ****. Sourced the chrome ones off amazon. Has any one just thrown out the tube for the gas tank vent? Please excuse the grainy pictures.
Sno, That looks sharp! Kinda late to the party as you have them installed but for possible future reference I use what's pictured below. Get them from eBay for about $2 ea. This one is blue and just the thin chrome ring sits above the surface. They come with a soft plastic washer that sits below the top ring, that when compressed, makes them waterproof. This one is going in the inner fairing for the oil cooler fans status on indicator. As for sealing yours what about some conformal coating?
I just spent the morning rerouting wires under the console and it worked out really well. The lights blink when you turn on the heat and blink faster and faster as you raise the temp until solid when on high. I damaged my dash insert slightly but it was already in pretty rough shape. I am going to try to dress up the LEDs a little and if it doesn't look good I can still replace the dash insert.

This is what I am looking for. The controller came with the LEDs already wired to the thing so...I don't have the skills for that. But I am thinkning if I can find a decent looking washer to set over the hole and then fill it with something clear. Something like these??
Take a ride to Do-It-Best at 4-corners behind Walgreens and look around their huge nut/bolt/ect section. I suspect you'll find what you seek. That place is an awesome source for odd items. They have about everything a guy could want even hardened metric chrome and anodized fasteners. Got some 12 point chrome fasteners for my intake there.
