I have one and bought it because everyone claimed it fit the rack perfectly. I guess perfect to me means something different because I brought mine to the dealer and tried every rack they had and ALL of the racks were too small. Still in search and have spent hours searching for the right dimensions online. If you take a close look at the pictures you’ll see that on the front of the rack there is the side that angles upwards... people set the bag on that so there’s a big gap between the rack in the bottom of the bag in the front. The bag itself is awesome but could benefit from a better designed top strap and side pockets.
I'm assuming that you will have a passenger and that you don't want to put a bag on the passenger seat. If I didn't have a passenger I would put bag on that seat before I would put it on tour Pack.
I have not had this specific bag but had similar one from T Bags. I don't like compartmentalized bags. I think it limits how much stuff you can put in it. I have several bags sitting around but I now use the Firstgear Torrent Duffle Bag all the time. Two reasons: 1) its waterproof and I don't have to worry about stopping the bike and putting the rain cover on it. 2) I can get more stuff in it than I can in a compartmentalized bag. Actually, a third reason, it costs a lot less.
I noticed the space in the front like you said . The 2nd choice i had was the HD premium tour pak luggage rack bag 93300006 i have the back seat full of camping stuff and want to use the rack for more storage (incase) but want a good fit on the airwing rack.
talked about often... i have the saddlemen 3300 delux rack bag that fits very good on my airwing... about an inch or so deeper than perfect but tethered straps hook up nice and easy and i have been on several long trips with it no problems... i tried about 4 bags before i settled on this one..
Isnt there anyone making custom racks? I plan to find a grate or something that has the right dimensions and somehow mounting that to the rack that I have. Ive been getting real crafty with hot glue lately.
The HD bag doesnt appear to have a top carry handle and not sure about the straps that hold it to the rack, the picture just shows the ones on the front. The NR has a top carry handle , well actually on the back and is a little bigger than the HD bag.
I have that exact bag that I use on longer road trips on my RGS. I also have one of the quick disconnect racks for the rear end. it does have 4 connection points that are easy to release tension on, clip in place and then snug down tight. I had it on the back end over a 6k trip with out any issues whatsoever. It does not have a top handle, only the two side ones but did come with a shoulder sling, should you desire it and a wet weather cover. I didn't notice any issues while riding through the rain with it. There are tons of options out there and plenty that are cheaper. That being said, it is a very well built bag with tons of room and easy access side pockets on every corner. I'm happy with it and would easily purchase it again.
damnit, this was supposed to go with a different thread...sorry, not sure how to delete it here.
