Default Brake fluid reservoir leaking

Yesterday i put new bars on my roadglide and had the brake reservoirs hanging. When I went to put them back on I noticed some brake fluid residue had seaped out. No biggie. I just wiped it off. Well this morning I noticed there was brake fluid residue coming out of the lid of the reservoir. I wiped it off. Come home from work tonight and same deal again. Did the seal go bad in the reservoir? Anyone heard of something like this?

Remove cover clean and dry everything up and reset do not overtighten.

IF you losened the brake line with the Crush Washers make sure it's tight and IF its weeping that may stop or you may end up needing new crush washers.

It is vented. If it was just hanging there, it probably got fluid above the seal that is leaking out the vent holes. Disassemble, clean and reassemble. Do not overtighten the screws. They should be barely tight.

And get ready to replace the corroded lid in a few months. That stuff is like acid, will destroy a finish like no ones business.

As others have mentioned clean the lid. Mine was weeping after riding in blistering heat. I figured I would be buying a new gasket, but first I took off the cover / gasket and cleaned with alcohol. Also cleaned around the edge lip of the m/c. You want the surfaces dry, but don't contaminate the fluid with the alcohol. I really really worked at that gasket rolling it around in my fingers cleaning with alcohol and put it back together with screws just a little snug. You don't want to see that gasket mushroomed out at all. Worked for me. Good luck. Jim

Are y'all having these issues on the newer brembo reservoirs? I ended up cleaning mine, took a bit of fluid out of the resevoir because fluid would always come out when i put the gasket in and just tightend the cover as tight as I could with the screw driver.

Don't do it this way. Barely snug on the screws.

What others have stated, most important: DO NOT Tighten those screws, just snug them!!!!

This happened to my 16 RGS. When the dealer recall on brakes was done, brake fluid leaked out later & corroded the brake reservoir cover....what a mess!
Dealer replaced the cover & fixed everything under warranty.
