32,000 miles on 09 Road King and my ESP is up in August. Dealer just told me I can get 5 more years for $2700. What's the thoughts on this deal. My thinking is I can ride the hell out of this bike and if I pop the motor in the next 5 years I pay the difference and upgrade to a 120R?
Touring bikes are easy enough to add stuff to, if I don't want it to be a Road King anymore I can add a Fairing and some Lowers and turn it into and Ultra or RGU.
Has anyone blown a motor and upgraded under warranty? I feel like they would let you pay the difference and bump up a few CI's.
The bike will be 14 years old in 5 years, are you going to want to upgrade?? You know the bike best, if you think the $$$ are worth it, and you spare coin to spend all up to you
It fits me great... Right bars and seat, the 96 does well with 48's installed. If I add a fairing and lowers I got all I need for touring. I'd like to think I'm content with it but I'd be more content with a 120 in it! LOL
ABS is your biggest worry. if you keep up on the fluild flushes/recommended maintenance, that is losing money.
I would buy parts for it, change it up a bit, and pocket the rest.
FWIW, I would ride out to Fuel Moto and have them do all the upgrades on site if you want it turned up.
that way, you KNOW it's right: the right parts, right combo, right people installing it.

Just got it back from the dealership. Recall for brake fluid 1 free flush ABS has been good so far. Upgraded compensator the stock POS took a dump, starter clutch and some other stuff in the Primary needed replacing. $2500 worth of work parts and labor and I paid $50 deductible.
