Default A question about seats

I've rode for years but this is my first Harley, 2016 Road Glide.

I have the catalog and see many seats in there. I'm interested in comfort for my wife on long trips. I see many items in there, some costing more, some less. I was hoping I could rely on some here for suggestions on replacing my factory seats.

Go see your local dealer. They've got seats set aside specifically for test rides. See which one is most comfortable.

If you want an aftermarket seat, that's a bit more of a gamble.

I agree with GM, as at the very least you and Mrs Joe will get a better idea of what is likely to work for the two of you. Most dealers have what they call a 'fit centre' where you should find a range of test seats with writing all over them - I don't recall what it says, but it is designed to prevent us from pinching them!

Hard to go wrong with an ultra classic sea for passenger comfort. I picked one up for 100.00 to put on my road king when momma Is going along. looks kinda funky but I can't see it when riding and she is happy, so all is well. Plenty of take offs ou here pretty cheap

A good solution - we're allowed to have as many seats as we like!

FWIW, I did exactly what @Jemezcrusher did; purchased a used Ultra seat and put it on my RK. That was 4 years ago; wife loves it as compared with the stock seat. Fast forward to last month - seat started to bother me a bit on long rides last year, so I went with a Mean City Cycle adjustment....Too soon to tell. GL.

I’ve always had good luck with Mustang but that’s me. Aftermarket is a gamble as noted.

so here is a question about the Hammock. I demoed one last summer for a couple of hours on my 2016 RGU. When I was on it I didn't think it was all that great. That is, until I put the stock seat back on and really noticed the difference. My question is, was that because the stock seat has 10k miles on it and in 10k miles the Hammock won't feel that great?

Definitely check out the local HD dealer for their demo seats.

Not sure where you are in SoCal, but if you like something more firm, LePera is in No. Hollywood. Big motorcycle seat company out there.
