Default 103 stock header modified with x-pipe

Has anyone on here modified their stock header with a x-pipe? I have access to welding equipment and was wondering if anyone has attempted this and what their results are.

Thanks
Cfave

you mean like this: http://fullsac.com/product/fullsac-sportpipe/

been using this headpiece for 4 years on my cvo. according to steve (who built it) it dyno's about 1-2 hp less than the x pipe on mild builds.

If you have the materials, tools and skill available, weld it up. The worst that could happen is you screw it up and have to buy an aftermarket x head pipe.

Just curious, what's the power difference between this poor man's X pipe and a gutted stocker?

Is it even an X? It looks like a Venturi to retain backpressure in place of the cat minus the heat. Doubt there’s much HP to be found in any of the offerings anyway, just sound and I like the power dual X pipe for its looks.....until I scrap it.

I have the fullsac pipe. Likely not much difference than a gutted header on a stock engine.

Im going back to a stock head pipe with converter that I just bought for $40. I gutted my original and ran it that way which made little difference in sound with the Street Cannons. Then I opened it again to insert a pipe to separate the banks to run true duals which changed the sound but now that Im running Rineharts the drone in my FF helmet is forcing the use of ear plugs. Love the sound no question (as long as I don't get tinnitus) but want to take just a slight edge off of it. Ill run the stock head pipe again to blend the banks and add back pressure as a test to see what that does. Ill then cut the center out of my already gutted original to try something different again hoping to find the sweet spot Im looking for.

I currently have V&H True Duels and they sound great but dont give me the back pressure I need. That is why Im looking at modifying the stock pipe. I looked at the fulsac and thought I can do that myself.
