2014 street glide special, most riding is two up,tires seems to be wearing strange, getting ready for third set of Dunlop with 27 K on the clock. Friends bike not mine, just alignment issue or something else to check out. Here is a pic,he said front is also looking strange.
Looks like cupping which is deemed to pretty much normal with this style of dunlops. Many have had good results with maintaining or upping the tire pressure.
If the cupping starts to develop noise you can easily cut off the cupped edges using a wood rasp. Do a search and you'll find examples of a few people outlining how that's done.
Youll get some people that will say they are fine but most will tell you to use different tires. I personally use Dunlop American elites. They grip better and depending on riding style will go at least twice the mileage hes getting from the stock tires with minimal cupping . Ive been using them for almost 90,000 miles. Also tire pressure is important. Check at least every 2 weeks. I run 40 in the rear and 38 front.
The reason tires often wear unevenly, left side more than right, is because roads are capped (i.e., convex) to shed water to the sides. When you ride straight up on a capped road, you are ridding on the left side of your tire.
