Default New Road King (2018)

Well, I pulled the trigger on a new 2018 Road King. It was the test ride that did it. The M8 107 engine is freaking awesome -- tons of torque and the power curve just seemed so effortless and smooth. As much as I love/loved my 2015 Fat Boy, the Road King is just a whole level better in terms of the way the bike felt. Very smooth and powerful is how I would describe it. And the Road King does not feel overly heavy, as I was afraid it would. (I am not a big guy; I am a physically fit 5' 8" on a good day.) And I can flat-foot the bike no problem.

I made a very good deal with the dealer, and the bike is wonderful. Vivid Black and chrome, just what I wanted. Pictures tomorrow.

Ordered Daymaker lights, LED turnlights, and a luggage rack.

Anyway, as you can see, I am stoked! Black and Chrome forever!

There is a reason why it is called a Road King. You will know very soon about this.

Congrats on the new bike. Please post up some pics when you can!

Just so happens that I got my free brake fluid change done today at the local HD Dealer via the recall campaign. While I was waiting on my bike, they managed to talk me into a few test rides. I rode a 2018 Road King (107) and a new Breakout with the 114.

The Road King def. had more bottom end compared to my Stage 2 96" and I liked the hydraulic clutch and the trans. felt much slicker than mine. The new King had taller bars than my '10 Classic, they felt nice and natural. One thing that sucked was the stock seat, I'm not sure what butt it's made for, but definitely not mine, but that's an easy fix. Overall it's not a big enough difference to warrant making a change--nor was I planning on buying a new bike and I told the dealer that as well.

The Breakout 114 was fun, tons of torque but not very comfortable.

In other news, I just found and bought a set of very low mileage 103 heads so I think I'm going to do the Fuel Moto 107 upgrade sooner rather than later...

Here's a pic of the two M8s I rode today at lunch time.

Precisely what did the Stage III entail. Did you do it after the purchase, did the dealer do it, or what?

Just picked up 2018 RK 3 weeks ago. The seat did suck so I replaced it with Le Pera Daddy Long Legs. Also added sissy bar and V&H 4" Elimintaor Slip Ons and Kuryakyn Iso Grips.
