Any of you with pre Rushmore Ultras or Limited's have the DK Cooling Deflector Wings installed? I have read some on them and my question is this...Do you think they do a reasonable job with the wind from coming up around the tank? And would you buy them again?
I currently have a wanted to buy add for a used set posted in the buy/sell area, however I am still not sure they are the best option for the price.
Thanks in advance for your replies!
Phil
I know that you are asking specifically for the pre rushmore. I have a 16 SG. I have a set and I am disappointed in them. If you would like to give it a try, IM me and we can discuss getting you mine...
Interesting...
I also realize I'm talking about a Rushmore bike, but I have them on my 16 RGU and I feel like they definitely made a difference.
HOWEVER, I also installed the tank lift. I don't know if that helped with the diverted air having more room to "flee", but this is a perfect example of "Your Mileage May Vary."
You might want to check out the Baker air wings instead. DK's website says their deflectors are 50% as effective as the fork fangs for stopping the air coming up from between the fairing and tank.
Thanks everyone. I have a air deflector under the steering head and between the forks and a 15" tall windshield now. It is much better than all the recurve shields that I have bought from LRS. (3 or 4 now to date). So, even though the buffeting is much better, this tall man still needs a slight bit more protection from the wind. So, I will give the ones that White Glide has a try.

I have the DK wings on my '15 Ultra Classic. They made a HUGE difference on the wind coming up under the tank and rattling my head like a sunday church bell. I also have a Long Ride Shiel (sized appropriately for my height) and the kury ashtray. But wings, man.... they're great, eliminated the worst of the buffeting. For $50 they are worth a try.
PS.... they look WAY better than the fangs, and are barely noticeable.
Didn't work for me .......but we all have different sources of buffeting.....different spots of wind flow that are rocking our helmets. I have lowers. Also, I have the fork fangs and think they look just fine, although I don't use them right now. I guess, when touring for 7-10 days, I'm not too worried about looks anyway. But ....I hated the looks at first ..........and no one ever even noticed them, but me. I had to point them out to friends. It's kinda like that huge scratch (or dent) your eyes find all day every day on your car/truck.........but other ppl don't even notice it because they are busy looking at how great the overall car/truck looks.
