I've been through 2 sets of front mounts in 2years. Rotating them works for awhile but not for long. The last set I bought didn't last 4 weeks! I'm having a buddy of mine machine me a set out of aluminum, made to fit so the front mount is tight. I'll post a pic when he gets them done.
ORIGINAL: gilbos440rt wonder if there's a market Hmmm
I'd say yes...my front mounts are just now gettin lose (7 months)... but my tour pac's been rattlin since day one at the lose fittin latches. Was thinkin when new, I was gonna try to bend the "C" shaped clamps a little for a more snug fit, but didn't wanna bugger it up. Still like being able to quickly remove the unit for cleaning though.
I did try the turningthe forward locating points but the quick fix was only tempoary... I have new points to install for a more secure and rattle free dock for the tour pak. The quick fix lasted only a few days...
Make some more sets and I will buy a couple from you!!!! Mine lasted 2 trips and broke in half (cheap f%^&76 plastic) Why do they make the front mounts on the sissy bar of rubber and the tour pac of plastic!!! Mine broke because i had nothing in it and there was a rough road I couls see it floppin in the mirror!! I might also try the sisy bar mounts I would just have to get them shimmied out somehow.
Can someone mail me the old bushing off their disconnect kit when they replace it. I am considering going to a local fab shop I know and having some made out of metal. Aluminium or something of the like. Surely it would hold up better than the plastic and we could make it with better tolerances than plastic (no squeeking). If you have one you are willing to send me, pm me and i will give you my address. I am sure i could make a 100 as cheap as I can make 4 so I would be willing to sell them at a far more reasonable price than a new kit from Harley.

IF this does come to fruition..........count me in for a set. I've never used my tourpak on my quick detachable hardware, but I'd buy a set for "preventive maintenance". PM me if you get these done and they are reasonably priced.
