Has anyone experienced the detachable tour pak brackets getting a bit sloppy on the mounts? Mine was installed a year ago and I remember the tour pak was very sturdy and now it seem like it has movement in the front mounts that go up and down. Wonder if something is loose or worn out? [sm=wtf.gif] Planning a trip in July to slay the Dragon and I think I need to break out the tools…
Check out the black grommets it attaches too, I found mine wearing after a year of use. Found a couple with missing pieces. They are only plastic so they are bound to wear.
Yes, and rattles something awfull too. This is the reason I removed my detachable stuff, all three, and went back to hardmounts. I did find at the Harley parts counter a replacement kit, only $60 bucks, which conveniently has sturdier looking rubber grommets. I bought that and might sell the whole shebang...
Purchased new forward docking points today and when I slid the tour pak off I looked closely at the original docking points and seen that they were flat spoted on the top and bottom... So I loosened up the post and gave them a 90 degree twist and no more slop!!! [sm=wootwoot.gif]
I may get another 5,000 miles out of the originals before I need to install the new ones!
YEP! That's what I did... It is a quick fix no doubt but if I can squeez a few more miles out of the original plastic mounting points good for me.
The post was to inform some who want imediate relife from the rattle without having to run to the stealer for $15 or so worth of parts. Hell it cost me $15 in gas for my truck just to get to the stealer.
I am all for streaching[sm=escape.gif] my dollars...

My 03 has had the qwik release since Nov 02. Just as tight as it has ever been and I swap out between the trunk and sissy often. No slop, No flop, No Rock!
I hear ya Jerry... I be down that way in a couple of weeks for a taste of them smooth roads. Maybe it these Michigan (chuckhole ridden) roads causing the pre-mature parts wear!!! [sm=confused06.gif]
