My Road King feels like a Sportster compared to the Road Glide. But both are a ton of fun and neither are an issue to ride. Some people just buy the wrong bike I reckon.

Took around 55lbs off my RK. Not quite as nimble as my old FXD,but not bad for a Fl.

You can have a Harley touring bike, and you can have a "light" touring bike, but they can't be the same bike. Consider a BMW R1200RT.

What did you take off to lose 55 pounds of a RK?

Really how hard would it be for the moco to do a little engineering and drop 100 lbs or so.I know,I know, traditionalists would have a stroke over the use of modern materials like aluminum, plastic and dare i say it carbon fiber. With less weight bike would accelerate, brake and handle better.Of course they would have to increase the price of the bike to $75000 to pay for it.

Trust me a BMW R1200RT has it's own issues but it is lighter. Having only owned Glides and Road Kings I can't comment on the difference in feel of the added weight. Having just sold my 2004 and now have a 2013 RK they feel about the same. The change in the frame and size of the engine is VERY apparent in the dynamics of the ride and handling but not in the feel of the weight.

Not a stupid question but a bit vague. What Ultra? What street glide? exact model names will help.

Weights are in the specs for all models.

Not in the specs are location of that weight, as in center of gravity.

Seat height is also a big deal.

But the best answer is Road King. This is the Harley forum after all.
