Got a 2006 FLHTP and a 2008 FLHTPI electra glide standard police edition bikes they both fire up and run but only by jumping the starter solenoid wire to the main post on the starter.
Im not very good with wiring but I hear the relay click once when I turn the ignition on it shows full voltage at all three wires coming out of the relay except for the black which i assume is ground. but only shows .03 volts on the green wire to the solenoid and no change in voltage when I hit the start button and nothing happens.
Im so lost I dont know if there is something they tapped into on the harness that they left unhooked it has a relay on the right side of the bike hanging with two wires coming out of it black and purple that are cut. So many wires cut from where they took off the lights, horn siren etc..
Any help or point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
No i understand sometimes we miss simple things but I have tried pulling in the clutch while in neutral too but still the same thing. The starter relay only clicks once when the ignition turns on but nothing happens when I press the start button. Ive swapped the relay already as well.
I had a 06 Roadking that while riding down the road decided to run the starter continuously, it turned out to be the start switch on the handle bar, the replacement switch will need to be soldered into place, not extremely difficult to do. Could be a similar problem area.
Yep have replaced the relays but same outcome. I was wondering if it isnt something they cut that they tapped into since both bikes do the same thing. Thank you for the lead to the wiring diagrams as well. Someone told me it sounds like a bad ground so going to try and just trace everything back and see what happens.

I believe the police bikes also have a kickstand switch...
