Daves yea for sure, they are a lot of fun,Congratulations on your first Harley, and for what it's worth, when your reading posting's on this forum;you hear much complaining about this problem, and that. Take it from a dude that has owned many. From 74" shovel heads to 80" Evos to the 88 then 96 then 103 twin-cam don't listen, they are really a quality bike built by American's. The 88 twin-cam was the first you didn't have to drop into a lower gear to pass a few car's.
yeah got to ride for about 2 1/2 hours today. So smooth in all aspects compared to my 750 ace. Loving it. The ace is quick on take off but when you get about 50 if you pull the throttle back all the way it accelerates very slowly. So having power after 50 is new for me ;-) And Im a computer tech so Im good at wading through the BS to see if things are real issue or not ;-) used to the complaining.
Yeah but I only care about mine ;-) Im a jerk like that. ;-)
No people are just dumb or don't know anything about Harleys.
You got people will go in touring section and ask about something that every harley has, but they ask a narrow audience.
For your education, sportsers have a different engine, with transmission built in Everything else has the same engine. Some differences in oil pans or tanks.
Take the time to learn about Harleys. Learn the alphabet. Though even Harley seems to have given up to the yuppies and doesn't list it as much.
Just kidding Zerk. I just posted here because I have the touring model so thought that was an appropriate place to ask

Ok im not used to Harley terms yet. ;-) First Harley. I have seen that stamped on the side tho. Newer ones being 107 and saw a 117 the other day at the showtoom. Thats gotta be badass.
So I know the electric glide has a 1584 engine in it. Is that considered a 1500 or a 1600? This is a 2008 model.
To answer the question and using the references below it would be considered a 1600. Being above or below the 50 cc mark is what the metric bikes use to determine what they round up or down to.
Kaw ZX-11 (1054 cc)
Honda CBR1100XX (1137 cc)
Suz GSX-1300R (denied as 1299 cc but bumped up to 1340 cc in 2008)
