I trust the jiffy stand more than any other bike I have owned. my zx12 sitting at idle on level ground rolled foward and the stand kicked up , bike fell over about $3500 in damage. The harley has the little flat bar that locks it in place, with the weight on the stand it wont kick up.
the only wild wild card is what it's actually resting on. I keep a cut off chunk of 1x6 laying around when I have to park mine on the ground. Works perfect, not too thick.
You guys are killing me, seriously ? Never had one fail and I guarantee I've abused them far beyond anything you can imagine. If that crazy redhead I used to date and I couldn't collapse one I doubt you guys will manage to.
The stand on my 58 Pan is original and never failed. The stand on my 80 FLT is original and never failed. It is losing some chrome though. The operator does need to be sure that it is fully forward before leaning the bike. Other wise the chunk of steel tab will not go into the slot for it.
Harley asked folks on an advisory board that they had in the recent past about changing the jiffy stand. That almost caused an insurrection.
I would be much more worried about the ground the jiffy stand rests on than the integrity of the stand. Also, standing the bike up off the stand fully loaded with a large passenger is a real bear.
I generally stand the bike up straight and brace it while the boss climbs on.
Did you really just call your wife a "LARGE passenger"? Hope she doesn't read the Forum.
After 10 years of owning my R/G....I still pucker when I notice it 'roll forward'.....just can't get used to it !!
My wife and I have "leaned heavily into" the bike while it was on it's jiffy stand.....we finished our business and bike smiled the whole time !!!
Yer good to go sir !!!!
Jiffy stand is flawless . Some rider's screw up then blame the stand. It works better than any on the market. Old video from 2011 with my RGU on grass jumping on the darn thing trying to make it fail. It was to prove a point ,
Photobucket kidnapped all my videos and pictures maybe someday it will surface again.

Had a Roadstar once that I pushed forward just a bit in my shop to get the valve stem of the rear tire pointing down to air it up. Guess it still had just a bit of forward roll left in it when I put it back down on it's stand because about 5 seconds later when I was grabbing the air hose I heard CRASH! Turned around it there it was...... on the ground! Not $3500 worth of damage, just a ding in the engine guard and a scratch in the windshield......... coulda been worse for sure.
