Last month I had to replace my back tire. While they were doing it I had brake pads put on the rear. Now here is the problem which could be a fluke. On the first good rideI went on and after about 20 miles I herd a howl or it sounded like a wheel bearing going out if it was a car. I only noticed it because I coasted at about 40 miles an hour and heard the sound loud and clear. When I applied breaks, no change still howled. The shop I went too is a local Hogg shop which has a good rep. Did they put the axel bolts to tight ( I don't know, I'm not a wrench), orwas it theway the pads were put on or is it coming from the gear box or what. It is an 07 ride. Hell I'm confused. I will probably have to go into the local Harley shop. However, on Monday, tomorrow I will be taking it back to the shopwhere I had the work done, Ineed them to assure me it was not caused by them,if it wasthey can fix itorI'll be getting my a_s chewed out by the Harley wrench. Can't win now days, I won't even start about the I R S.
Sounds like a belt whine have the dealer re align the reat tire. That happens sometimes after getting a new tire.
2007 use eccentrics. Rear wheel alignment cannot be off. Check belt tension before going to dealer. Match tension with lines in beltguard cutout. Check tension after. Ride bike at speed then pull in the clutch. This will remove all belt / clutchdrive noises. Still whine? Take it back, I'm sure they will look at it. I haven't seen any "new" wheel bearings go bad since released.
