'06 Ultra Engine Problem
Two nights ago I went fora night ride. After approximately 45 minutes my engine began cutting out as though I was running out of gas. I would shift into a lower gear and after 15-20 seconds it would begin again. When I pulled in the clutch the engine would continue to idle. I pulled off the road and let the bike cool down for 1/2 hour because I wasn't sure what the culprit was. It started right up andgot me home without any further problems. I have never experienced anything like this before but now I'm weary ofwonderingtoo farfrom the home. I'm going to be taking a 400 mile (one way) ride in a couple weeks and do not wantengine problems ruining my trip. Any ideas what may have caused this to occur? Possibly the fuel injection module?
I am running a stock88 engine with a K&N custom air cleaner and Power Commander, which was mappedby Fuel Moto. My exhaustare Wild Pig slip ons. I've had this same setup for 6-months nowwithout anyproblems.

Do you have the 8 degree injectors or the 25 degree injectors? That may be the culprit. Do a search on the forum for this issue and you can find some information out about it and the symptoms of it.

You might have a cracked fuel line in the tank that is drawing air.. That I have read here somewhere..

By all indications it appears to be a engine temp sensor problem. Tonight I took it out for a ride and as soon as my oil temp gaugehit 230 degrees, which is usually normal riding temp, the engine started cutting out again. I pulled over and turned it off and waited till the temp went down to 150 degrees. Once I fired it up it ran perfectly again until it hit 230 degrees. It's always run fine at that temp so any ideas what could be making it act up?I'm going to call HD in the morning to see if I can get it in. The bad thing about all of this is I'm suppose to ride to Long Beach, CA with a couple of friends this Friday for the LA Calendar Bike Show. If HD can't get it in and fixed between now and then they'll have to cound me out.[sm=boohoo.gif]
Due to my Wild Pig slip ons, K&N filter and Power Commander, I'm afraid HD will say I've voided the warranty so all labor and parts will be my responsibility. I'll keep you posted.

UPDATE: After disconnecting my Power Commander the problem went away. I contacted Steve at FuelMoto.com and he said to take the module off the bike and ride it until the temperature reaches 230 degrees, which is wherethe problem starts to occur. Once the module was disconnected the engine no longer cut out so by all indications the problem lies with the Power Commander and not the engine temp sensor like I had thought. Luckily I didn't takethe bike to HD yet and getcharged forfinding the same thing. I'm returning my Power Commanderto Dyno Jet for a replacement under warranty so hopefully everything will be back to normal soon. Thanks for all the input.
