Use the battery positive lug on the starter and any good ground on the frame. No need to remove the seat or get another cable.
This^^^^^ is also what the dealer did when they picked up my bike with a dead battery. it was under warranty so i had them do it, and after looking at it I don't think i have the patience to do it in the future, that thing is buried in there and even more so after my trailer light wiring job that i did.
Replacing the battery is a PITA? If that's what you think, you have other issues
yeah, its a PITA. my strap is broke so it was hard to get out....last time i changed the battery, i got some good advice on here about using a boot lace attached to the terminal. works like a charm, just have to disconnect a bunch of stuff. less of a PITA since i've used that trick. i like the starter idea. if it ever happens again i'll try it. i've got 63000 miles on my 2013 flhtk so it should hopefully take a while.
btw guys, thanks for all the good suggestions and advice.
sure you can, the battery primes the fuel injection and powers the ignition. whether its the starter or your foot that spins the motor matters not
sorry its not that simple. A FI engine needs to turn over about three revolutions before the crank sensor and the ECM will send a spark signal. Not to mention kicking over a motor with todays displacement isnt a simple task.

sorry, you're still wrong. you can push start fuel injected vehicles and have hand propped fuel injected Cessna's
oh and by the way Royal Enfield builds a fuel injected bike with a kick starter, im sure there are others

You seem a little confused, as I stated several posts earlier you CAN push start a FI engine. To correct my second quoted statement you cant kick start a modern FI Harley Davidson.
Well, I personally would have dealt with the pia change out of the battery with a new one rather than dealing with the pia on the side of the road.
I made a set of jumpers with alligator clips on either end.
Have not had to use them or lend a hand to a stranded rider.
I did ponder cutting a battery tender cable from one end to the other for ease of use, but have not gone passed that .
