Default Haywire turn signal FLHTCU

I own a 2012 Ultra Classic. My left blinker signal is going haywire. Sometimes activating itself at random, won't activate when toggle is depressed, cancelling early, won't cancel when toggle is depressed, will sometimes only cancel with right toggle button, etc. Completely random symptoms. The right signal and hazard signals work as expected only the left turn signal is affected. All other lights and signals work as expected. I've already changed out the TSSM and the problem persists. What else could it be? Please tell me someone else has had this issue and it is a simple fix. Here's to hoping!

Maybe clean the switch, maybe spray a little WD40 in it. Change the bulb maybe. After that, I guess you have to check the wiring.

Avoid using WD40, it leaves an oily residue that attracts dirt. It may work short term but makes issue worse long term. Buy electrical contact cleaner. Does a better job and leaves nothing behind.

I had something like that happen on the GF's Sporty. The wire for the turn signal & the wire for the front brake had both chaffed and would sometimes short. Remember that when you press and release the turn signal switch, is sends a momentary power pulse to the TSSM, That starts the turn signal flashing. The TSSM either self cancels or you press & release the turn signal switch again to cancel the turn signal. If you use the switch you are sending another momentary power pulse to the TSSM which cancels the turn signal. What happened to the Sporty was that some times the wire for the brake light was sending a power pulse to the TSSM because the wires were chaffed and sometimes touching each other. It drove me crazy figuring that out. Good luck.

Thanks for the responses guys! I tore apart the left handlebar switch housing assembly and cleaned it out real good with some contact cleaner. No improvement. The way it's behaving seems to make me think it's the actual switch going bad sending false signals to the TSSM. It's only the left turn signal malfunctioning. I'm going to try replacing the switch and see if that helps. On order from eBay!

The issue was the turn signal button. Installing a new button fixed the issue.
