Compare this also to the newer HD premium shock set, where one side/shock has the preload/sag, and the other side does the dampening and has that adjustment.

I believe the newer front fork inserts (Axeos or Legends or ??) are setup this way, but I might be mistaken.

I didn't, I read all the threads I could find and guessed I would prefer a firmer ride, but at my weight 2 clips sounded too stiff. My setup is stiff and only feels harsh on square edge bumps. For the money they are worth it to me, but if I keep the bike much longer I will probably try the Axeo's.

That is a fairly considerable dearl you would be undertaking - trying 1 or 2 clips - with the the thought of having to completely dissemble your front forks to make a change. I would not want to do that if I were doing the work myself, and I sure wouldn’t want to pay to have that done twice.

I put 2 clips in on my winter install, It's ok,but it is a bit stiff on rough roads. Not sure yet at this time that I may pull one out of each side next winter or not. I go 250#, I haven't really notice it better with a passanger.

Sorry about the delay but I just read the post. I'm going to Ohlins over the winter. Ohlins would have been my pick from day one but they were not available.

Finally got it back together. It was a monster. Only real issue was torquing bottom screw as that whole mess spun inside..

Ride is much more responsive/sporty than before. Before squishy ride/now much stiffer. I used 2 clips. Weight 200 alone. I am going to ride it for another thousand miles before I make a decision on whether they are too harsh. My wife and I mostly ride together and I haven’t had a chance to get her on for the test as together we are around 330lb. For the money these were the best option available. If I am disappointed after a couple thousand, I’m still open for someone to sponser the toady with some axeos for a non biased review! . Thanks for all the input! I mentioned the 2 and 1 clip thing to the progressive tech and he said “why the ... would he do that?” Lol

since I did it myself I decided to go with two...my reasoning was if I’d done that work with one...well I’d always wonder what two felt like. Go extreme and then make up my mind if I needed to go down. At this time I don’t feel it necessary as I’m hoping after a thousand it will loose up. If not I’ll go back in next year and take a clip out or review some axeos.

Call tomorrow and ask a different progressive tech. Don't be so sure you'll get the same answer, lol
