I have a quick question, I have been looking through the forum for over an hour, trying to decide what slip on's I want on my new bike. I only have 250 miles on it and can't stand the stock exhaust. I need to know if I can change them without doing anything else to the bike or does something have to be done to keep it running right? Also any links to sites where I can buy new slip on's would be great.
I got my 07 SG Friday and installed a set of Rush 2.0 slips on Sunday morning...that Singer Sewing machine sound'snow gone...it only took 20 minutes.
I plan on adding a high flow air filter and probably a Thundermax..but at least I have a better sound now without getting into the other stuff yet. You should look at the Rush pipes..2.0 or 2.5's if you're not as residential as me..they're deep and throaty if you get down on it at low gear but reasonably quiet on the highway.
Take your time...You'll regreat making changes to your exhaust based on other peoples suggestions. Your exhaust is a "me" thing, what you like may be different then what I like. My suggestion is to go to a couple Bike nites and listen and when you hear the one that you like just ask the rider (you know we love to talk about our machines) what exhaust do they have.
Go to any Harley Dealer and just sit in the Service area and listen to the Bikes coming and going until you hear that one Pipe that you Like. The Test that was ran by HB Baggers was very Slanted, why was there so many Pipes omitted? was it just because they wouldn't advertise in the Mag or what! no Thunderheader-V&H etc:
I put D&D slip ons on my 07 egc didnt have to do anything else as long as not changing a/c good sound not to loud but bark when you get on em not too pricey,as others say though go to a bike night listen to other bikes, its real easy to buy the wrong pipes then decide you cant stand them.
I went with the Rush 2.0's and really like them. I did have the HD Stage 1 download done to the bike as it was recommended and supposed to take care of some of the heat issues with the 07's anyway. They are not overly loud, but far from quiet. They do have a great deep tone. I had the luck of talking to a sales guy that had them on his street glide and got to hear them first.
