Well...we all have to be smarter then a gas can.
If you pack it so it somehow got a hole in it....so be it
They are made out of very tough plastic like most gas cans.
I wont go on a big trip without it.
Every time I see a post about gas cans on motorcycles, I think about the forum member that had an explosion in his saddlebag - you guys remember that one?

A couple of people stopped, but without any gas they couldn't help. Yes, I was armed, and had plenty of water. In this area, even though cell service is not available, 911 calls can be made. I called after 3 hours and asked that they call roadside assistance for me. Instead, they said they would send out a Sheriff. At 4.5 hours, I called again and they said a Trooper would be there soon. It wasn't long after that that the guy with the gas can on his bike trailer stopped. He and his wife were somewhere in their 70's, and had been on the road for 7 years. He was on oxygen, and had the tubing wrapped around his bars. That's a life that is being lived!
I'm going to order the can and see how it works for me.

And we get to see this same picture EVERY time someone mentions carrying extra fuel.
Here's a picture of a Ford truck on fire.
I guess we shouldn't get one of those either.

I am sure if I pack some wool sweaters in the bag with the gas and have a loose gas cap, I might be able to generate a spark too?
Gas is not very spontaneous.
I'm sure some of you remember the thread where the guys scooter went up in flames on the side of the road ... Cause? and "approved" gas storage container in the saddle bag ... Be careful !
Uncle is right.
Google PTSD Bob
It liked to burned him to death. It isn't the gasoline, it's the vapors.

I have been told by experts that a match can be tossed into a pail of gas on a cold day.
It just drowns.
Like said its the vapor.
The lid on tight? nothing to light.
There are always people who will post a negative response. There are also people who do really dumb stuff. If you chose to carry an extra gallon of gas for those times you or your buddies smaller tanked bikes might need help, be smart about it.
The Reda is designed for the saddle bag. The cheap snap top $ 2.99 Walmart special is not. If you bungee it to your rack and it slides off to one side, you could become a photo for a negative poster. If you lay a plastic bottle full of gas in your saddlebag, you could become a photo for a negative poster. If you are smart and careful, you life will go on as normal and should you hit 41 mph headwinds like I did yesterday and the gas station was 21 miles further, you can consider yourself smart, not lucky.
Some people just need to show you what could go wrong. Perhaps they are careless people themselves, perhaps they think you are probably a careless person, or maybe, they have been saving this photo of a burning bike just waiting for a chance to us it. In that case, they should thank you.
