I found some new info on this subject if anyone is interested. On page 8-86 in the "2003 Harley Davidson Touring Models Service Manual", while there is no picture of a 'bulb', under the "INSTALLATION" section it states: "1. Install new bulb in socket. Install boot in bulb housing." And then on from there to putting the bezel back together and such. So, that puts to rest in my mind the question of whether I have LED's or not. It appears 'not'.

EDIT: HOLD EVERYTHING FOLKS! I have misread this. It's referring to the "Indicator Lights" NOT the backlighting. I TOO need to pay more attention when reading

HERE'S the real and correct info guys! I even attached a pic. Zoom in and you can see the asterisk (double) at bottom of page. Looks like replace the unit or do soldering or send it for repair. Decisions decisions 😑

I'd check for a loose connection first, unplug and reconnect. Then move on to the led gauge mod.

Unbelievable! I had some time to run out to the garage and do this very thing upon your suggestion. I have light again! Again it proves to me that one should NEVER jump to worst-case-scenario from the get go, rather go for the easiest and simplest troubleshooting processes first 🙂
