Heres the error code...I cant find it on any forum or on V&H website.
i just got my new FP3 delivered today and after at least 30 attempts to link this thing to my 16 Road King, I get the same error over and over again. Have any of you heard of the error that wants you to verify power on/engine off? This isnt rocket science. Think I got a bad unit? Im going to try calling V&H tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
E-mailed Chris Neely at V&H Customer services, he replied within 30 minutes, advised me to make sure I had the latest IOS operating systems on my Iphone (which I had'nt) gave me advice on which map to use, and it all downloaded to bike FIRST TIME of trying.
That for me is EXCELLENT customer service!!! Cheers Chris.

The 1301 error states that the internal chip had timed out, (writing the new map to the internal memory). Upon your upload we noticed that you are running an older version of iOS, (9.2.1). Whereas the current version is 9.3.1. This may be causing an issue. I suggest to update the OS and reflash the bike, also make sure your internet connection has adequate bandwidth and strength otherwise the server could time you out as well. Everything else looked good on our end.
Vance & Hines was super helpful. It was a combo of the battery being a little low, so the FP3 couldn’t finish it’s cycle and there was a previous tune. It’s all set now and my baby is running like a dream...a big powerful, smile inducing badass dream. Thanks HD gang for jumping in.
errors have been found on used bikes that had a different than stock map already preinstalled to it
did you buy this bike new?
My bike had, unbeknownst to me, a harley tuner (I forget which exactly, but it was purchased in 08) on it and my FP3 didn't seem to give a dern about it.

i gather the fp3 saved that Harley tune as your stock tune.

it will work with the Harley tuner or the mocos staged tunes but has trouble with other brand tunes that are installed.. this was the info given by V&H
when they looked in to the issue... this has happened to a few people on other sites and V&H told them to go to a dealer and have them flash the stock tune
back to the bike and then the FP3 would work
Anytime I call V&H they answer, and they adjust my map for me while I am on the phone. They even wait and make sure the new map downloaded successfully. I can't say enough about how good V&H FP3 support is.
