Just picked up a clean 6500 mile 2016 Ultra Road glide and it seems that the suspension bottoms out easy compared to my 2011 Ultra Classic. Is it me or is there a suspension issue?
I bought a 2016 Road Glide with 10,006 miles on it, bone stock.
I'm 6'7", 260 lbs and it seems to hit bottom more than it should. I never run less than 45 psi in the shocks. My wife is 135 lbs and I'm real careful about hitting bumps when riding two up.
I pay attention to threads here discussing rear shocks and will prolly do something there someday soon.
There are two versions of Touring shocks, short ones used on the SG for example, longer ones on Ultras. These things dance around the Touring range as owners swap long for short, for reduced reach, or the other way for improved ride. So run a tape over yours to see what length they are. They are likely to be around 12" or 12.5" long.
Check the air pressure, fill to manual specs for your weight, see if that helps, could be a leak?...use the HD pump or I used a mountain bike pump...cheaper...
I have a 16 Ultra, changed to the 2018 stock Ultra shocks, they aren't really expensive if you find a take off pair, or buy individually, vs the "kit", like around $400 from boardtracker. I opted for this route as I wanted to change the front out also and had limited funds, but the difference is still amazing. Or if you have the $$, you can spend from $600 to $1400. Plenty of threads here on brands. Make sure you get at least 13 inch or longer. DK products, a sponsor on this forum has a 14" kit with pro-action shocks.
If you can swing it, change out the front suspension with a cartridge kit, changing both really transforms the whole bike to what I think they should come like...no more wallowing in fast sweepers or extreme brake dive....Ohlin, Legends are what I would look at, progressive if low $..this set only has one cartridge vs the other two...
Good Luck, keep us posted and ride safe!!
OH, check out the roadglide.org site too....

Thank you in advance
Yeah, bad news if there is no air in the shocks and that is what it sounds like, check the air pressure, inflate to 50 Lbs and you will be all set.
Best to buy a Harley inflater pump, do not use a powerful airpump, you can over do it and blow out the seals, right now it sounds like you are pounding/bottoming out the shocks and possibly ruining them.
Im not an expert, I just know what is in the owners and shops manuals. Im also only 180Lbs + my wife at 120 and any lugguge, never bottomed out the shocks and actually very happy with them.
