As stated already, anything is better than stock!
Shoot looking at the cost of hand adjusted or wrench adjusted shocks I think I'm going with JNR Designed air ride suspension. The 2 actual setup I choose on their drop down box, one setup is $350 and the other one is the bare bone air suspension $299, the difference is the bare bone you have to put the wiring together and the mount for the compressor is different for the $350 air suspension.

Would that be a good inexpensive upgrade? Thanks.
my understanding is that you can have it good or you can have it inexpensive. you just can't have both. i am like you though. i wanted a better suspension but wasn't paying $800 plus for it. i have had progressive suspension 412 HD on my last 3 bikes. i had an 85 low rider, 89 E glide and now the 07 E glide. the 412's i bought for about $360'ish a few years back on my current 07. certainly better than stock and for all intents, they are inexpensive. are they as good as ohlins....doubt it but never road one with those. but i can tell you they are noticeably better than stock. i cannot compare to the new bikes and i am not sure what they have done to the suspension, but i don't believe there was any change between your 13 and my 07

As an answer to your question in my opinion yes it would be a upgrade the only thing I believe your stock shocks are 13" if I'm not mistaken and the 12" ones will lower your bike and they have a shorter stroke

I think it would be a good improvement. I've put almost 80,000 miles on the 12" Premiums the last four years. 12" air shocks really sucked.

I'm old and I've ridden a bunch all my life. Maybe I just don't care!

long story short...and the biggest one for me and the wife...the Pro Actions rode much better than the Ohlins comfort wise while still instilling confidence in the turns.

Lots of people upgrade to the Ohlins, Legends, or Super Shox and claim they’re “the best”...and it’s easy to see why as they are all so much better than stock. There are a few of us that have had Ohlins, or Legends, and we all prefer the Pro Actions ride wise. The ease of adjustment of the Pro Actions to get a great ride, the ease of adjusting the preload with the design of the clamping collar and hard anodized body coupled with the thread design (its soooo much easier than the Ohlins) the 3-1/2” of stroke on the 13” shocks (which matched the 136 Ohlins I had) the lifetime warranty (including rebuilds) the build quality, the hard anodizing, the customer service, the spherical bearings, the ability to still ride one up versus two up without adjusting (although they are firmer on big bumps).

Its just like slipons (I’ve had 4 sets and settled on MagnaFlows for both sound and torque), or seats (I’ve tried 4 and finally had a Russell Day long made) and now my front end (I have Legends installed now, but only rode it from the dealership to home), I’ll try different things looking for what I prefer, or think is the best for me. If it’s an easy install I’ll try several different ones and even go back and forth in one day.
