The ABS system I saw on the Police bikes looked like a very clunky-chunky Delphi system....the mess took up about a third or better of the volume of the right saddlebag. That was a couple of years ago.....maybe they've found a way to reduce the physical size or are using software to engage the system.
Hope so! ABS would be a welcome safeguard. As long as we never see an airbag like the Goldwing has..............
I was expecting a wider tire for the touring bikes... like they did on the SE fatboy.. the very next year all fatboys had that 200MM tire.
The SE Road King has a 170 on it... maybe they'll go all 170 this year... shoot who knows...
A chopper could happen this next model year. Here's why:
I used to be one of the minions of HOG members that were on the "Advisory Commitee". Basically a marketing information gathering questionaire eMailed to us every month. One such eMail dealt with choppers, asking if we would consider a purchase or not, if we thought it was a fad, etc. etc.
Obviously, the mean age of your average HD owner is creeping upward and the MOCO needs to attract a younger buyer, and the chopper might be an avenue. Big Dog has done well with their line-up, but I understand build quality is lacking, and they sure as heck ain't cheap at 30K plus.
Ride that PIG to Sturgis! Oh, yeah!
Anyway, it could happen. I understand the Lehman Trike-HD production has been pushed back a year or so.....don't expect to see any of those on the floor this year.
Only time will tell, and we'll all know the story after the Dealer Meeting the second week of July. Stay tuned!
Tell me, what benifit's are there by installing ABS braking on a motorcycle? I can see the benifit's as far as riding in the rain, but what about any other riding conditions other then that? Rich A

Well, Puttnutt, one obvious benefit to having an ABS system on a Harley would be to eliminate the notorious tendency to lock up the rear brake in a panic stop. ABS IS fabulous in the wet......I owned a BMW1150GS when I lived in the mountains of Colorado.....and found it comforting in the rain and the gravel roads I motored on. The inability to lock up and skid either wheel is a tremendous safety feature for a motorcycle. Some of the rock-crawling dirt bikers don't want it.....and on the GS one could turn the system off.....but I never did.
Honestly, how was that BMW? I've never ridden one. I did drive a BMW automobile a few weeks ago. I was very impressed.
I hear they changed the tank logo's on the 08's. That's about it for std models, oh and that throttle deal. The big secret seems to be the CVO's, specifically the bagger. They say the Ultra CVO has run it's course Whats next? A RoadGlide? That would be sweet. Hopefully it would have a black and chrome motor and graphics that line up. Well the 07's are better. I'd have to stripe the side panels to match. Or how 'bout NO stripes??!! One solid color?!
That would be 110" of bad a__ bike !!!!!!!!!!!
I have owned a couple of BMW's and I hate ABS brakes. I understand the benefits of the system but I rather enjoy applying the proper amount of brake in a panic situation. This keeps my brain and motor skills working in harmony. Britt
