OK - this just happened for the first time today but it happened three or four times on the way to work. After riding about 20 minutes on the way in... I get to a stop light where I am about to turn, the light is green and I am proceeding, in 2nd gear at about 15 MPH, make the turn and go to accelerate, and nothing. Literally nothing. The throttle rolls back and there is no engine change at all (up or down). I thought - that was strange. So I get to the next intersection and it does it again. Now I am panicking and working what the hell is wrong with my bike. At the next intersection I went around in 3rd gear and is was doing the same thing, I downshifted to 2nd and it kicked in like normal. Did not happen again the rest of the way in to work.
I am riding a 2017 Ultra Limited, 107 M8. I have made no modifications to the bike at all. I have put over 13,000 miles on this bike with no issues.
Does anyone know why this happened, know of any known issues or have any suggestions?
Well - that is interesting. I read that article and mine does not come up exactly like that. It did go into DIAG mode. Displayed ECM Y. I am guessing that means there is an error there, the others indicated an N next to them. I held it for the 5 seconds and it displayed P1510. According to that chart that is EFI Limited Performance Mode??????
Upon checking further there are two codes popping up P1510 and P2138. I have seen other posts that seem top point to this indicating something wrong with the twist grip connection.
is the bike under warranty? If so I wouldn't mess with anything an call the dealership. If you have to cover it yourself I'd clear the code an see if it comes back. If it does I'd clean the connection at the throttle body with the electronic connector cleaner then put the electrical grease on it an see if that clears it...last thing is the green connector inside the handlebars that connects the grip sensor to the throttle body.
