A good shock is gonna cost money and better off with 13" as opposed to 12". I had Pro Action in 12 and much better than even the new HD shocks. But 13's are very sweet. I picked up a set of Progressive 430's from the classifieds here for my 01 and vastly improved.

HOWEVER, if you want a band aid until you get a set, remove the air lines from the shocks you now have, go to a hardware store and pick up a couple Shrader valves. No more leaking lines.

I upgraded to the '09 and later HD air shocks from a seller off of EBay for $50.

Just installed Pro Action 13" on my RG. WAAYYYY better than the stock setup. Can't speak to how Ohlins are, never had them.
But for $800, having a lifetime warranty for rebuilds etc is a killer deal. Custom sprung/valved to your application.
I'm a fan !

If I recall, 25 lbs did it for my 230 lbs weight. They were a significant improvement over the '00 to '08 models.
