I don't see a signature hence why I asked. Personally I think you're asking for trouble trying to make these work. Drilling holes for wiring can cause headaches down the road if not deburred correctly. I would send them back and buy the correct bars for your bike.
i personally wouldnt drill holes in bars, i would think that would make them unstable and look like ****. Sell those, or return them. Cough up the xtra money for a good set of bars from Wild onz and pull the wires through the bars, thats doing it right.
Going to go forward with installation. These bars are the correct diameter for my bike. They are designed to fit my bike. I WON'T be drilling holes in them. My comment in the OP: "I don't have a drill press but I'm assuming one could drill same size holes to accept these clips?" I suppose after reading it again, I can see how some may have taken that to say that I was GOING TO drill the holes. NOOOOOO!!! I was only ASKING if that could be done!
I'll be sure to report back when the job has actually been completed. For me, teh bottom line is a more comfortable wrist position. I think I'm on the right path. Hang in there
you brought up that there is nowhere to put the retainers like on the stock bars but didnt mention that there were no holes in the bars for internal wiring either. Both sets of aftermarket bars that i put on were lacking the holes like your stock bars but had provisions for internal wiring which the krome werks also dont have.
As far as the fitment, id get a set of stock road king bars before i put those on. At least the road king bars would have a way to anchor your wiring and the position would he pretty similar if not the same.
im not actually sure what the purpose of this thread even is, youve been contrary to what anyones suggested or said so, heres an idea, why dont you just zip tie them to the bars? It will look great and might not be a pain in the kneck trying to keep them in place! If you use the widest zip ties you can find they may not move around
Not for nothing, but drilling for internal wiring CAN be done, just depends on your skill/desire.I did a pair of bars for my buddys Street Bob-no holes.I measured in to where the control wires went in,center punched, and drilled.2 holes to match the size/width(?) of the stock holes, then dremeled out the excess metal.Deburr the **** out of them with a file/dremel.Same for the center hole for the exit....mocked them up,marked them, drill baby drill.Just be sure to deburr the edges very well. Not rocket science.....I did this by hand in a vise.
