Default Aftermarket Handlebars

I'm not ready to do the install yet but I've already got a new set I want to put on - probably this off-season. My stock bars have pre drilled holes on the underside (near the upper most bend before the controls and grips as well as near the bottom bend) that contain cable retention clips to hold the controls wiring harnesses close to the bars. New bars have no such thing. It appears that if I go forward and use these, I will need to simply use zip ties to secure said wires, etc. to the bars - not really to my taste. My question is...

What have any of you who have found yourselves in such a dilemma done to achieve a clean looking install? I don't have a drill press but I'm assuming one could drill same size holes to accept these clips? What say y'all

What new bars did you purchase? It's possible they are set up for internal wiring, which is how 99% of aftermarket would be, I would think.

wire them internally. not difficult and looks better than having the harnesses run down your bars.

Oh I agree it would look better. Would you know of any sort of "How to" video or write-up on the topic? Holes would still need to be drilled into the new bars, correct?

i just looked your bars up online and it doesnt look like there are any holes for any wiring. i guess thats why theyre under 60$, they give you the option to do what you want i guess. personally, i would return them and get a pair of 1.25 inch bars from wild1 or a few other manufacturers. i wouldnt trust myself to drill the holes in the right places to make sure they were 100% spot on or to get a clean enough hole to run wires through. id also be a little worried about screwing up the chrome finish. you might also be the first person ive ever met that likes the buckhorn bars. im pretty sure thats what comes stock on the road kings and i dont know many people who keep theirs. sorry i cant be of any more help, but if you did do internal, the location of the holes would be covered and more forgiving about being dead on.

On long rides, my wrists are at an angle that causes them to become uncomforatble and I THINK the Buckhorns might just be MY ticket. Never really cared much for what "the crowd's" doing! sorry i cant be of any more help, but if you did do internal, the location of the holes would be covered and more forgiving about being dead on.
Thanks for your .02
