Freedom Shield touts that their windshields as 30% thicker, and we assume this is a good thing. Is it? Does this have any adverse effects, such as strain on the fairing?

Freedom shields, best quality, best value, best personal service. It also seems to go on and off my fairing much quicker and easier than my wind splitter. You will enjoy doing business with John at Freedom, and you will be even more happy with the shield. Top notch.

Thicker isn't better. That's why I like Fastaire, same thickness. Wont seat properly if thicker

I’ve bought several shields from LRS for several bikes. Never had an issue or problem, that’s why I keep ordering them.

I've been fighting the "buffeting" battle with my new 2018 SGS. I'm 5'9" tall, and wear a helmet all the time. When I took the test ride, buffeting was not too bad until we hit above 45 mph. Highway speeds were not tolerable. I felt like a bobblehead. And I knew there was no way I would be able to ride long distances.

On the recommendation of the parts guy at the dealer I bought the 7" Harley Windsplitter. While a significant improvement, freeway speeds were still problematic. A half hour on the freeway at 75 mph, I'm a bit motion sick and have to focus hard....

I went and demo'ed Klockwerks shields. A 6.5" and a 8". The 6.5 is taller than the 7" Windsplitter and was an improvement. I like to look over the shield, and it allowed me to do that. But the distortion from the curves was noticeable out of the corner of my eye. The 8" was too tall. The top was right at the line of my sight. It did offer minimal buffeting at 75 mph. But I don't like looking through the shield.

I ordered a Freedom Shields 8". This has been the best so far. Up to about 60 mph, its very calm in the cockpit. As I approached 75 mph there is some buffeting, but not bad. My only issue is that while it's lower than the Klockwerks, I have to sit straight up to see over the shield. If I slouch like you do when you get tired, it right at my line of sight. While they have a policy that you can exchange the shields if you keep the protective covering on them, I took off the covering as the stickers and the like were bothering me and I couldn't tell if it was distracting me. I've ordered the 7" and I think it will work perfect.

Some observations. I wonder if by wearing a helmet which adds probably 2"-3" on top of your head, the standard method for measuring windshield height doesn't quite work right. I wonder if you have to go an 1" taller. Second thing, is, apparently shield heights aren't all measured the same. The 7" Windsplitter is actually shorter than the 6.5 ClockWerks. So make sure you know what they are measuring

Curious, did you order it straight from the website or did you speak to John at FS. After speaking to John about the size I ordered mine which is coming in this week. Will keep you posted.

Just installed a Freedom Shield 9" on my 15 Ultra Classic, no problem with installation, rides a lot better than the stock windshield and looks way better.

I went off the website. I probably should have contacted FS directly. I'm in Metro-Denver and FS isn't too far. Alot of my rides goes right by their shop. I wonder if I could have/should have stopped by first and see if I could have demo'ed some shields.

A couple things; I also added "fangs" to my FLHXS. Those helped with air/turbulence coming from below.

Ordered a shield from LRS during the summer. After 2 weeks expecting delivery, they cancelled the order. No reason given. Emailed them and they said to re-order. Expected delivery was 9-14 days. After 3 weeks, the order wasn't even in production. I cancelled the order. They are a shitshow.
