Default Lost Tourpack Key

Long story short: bought a tourpack from a user here. It came with one key. I locked the pack Saturday night and got up the next morning and headed out. Key has fallen out of my pocket somewhere.

Any way to get into the tourpack without the key? I can order the barrel assembly for my own key if I can get it open.

I've wondered that myself. I've never tried it but, on my 07, I believe if both latches are open the lid could be torqued enough to slip the lock bar out of its slot.
Worse case would be to drill out the hinge mounting rivits.

Locksmith or maybe your dealer has a box of old keys you can try!

Thanks for the replies. I may wiggle loose the lid from the locking mech.

Red: are the tourpack keys keyed to the bike? I would assume so. Not like a John Deere tractor key that will start every JD tractor on earth.

Yes, tour box is keyed to the ignition and bags from the factory.

You might get lucky if you can find a box of barrel keys. I'd try that before forcing the lock. A good locksmith can probably pick it in a couple minutes also.

Try the bic pen trick? Basically you take a plastic bic pen (The soft white plastic kind) and pull the pen part out and press it into a barrel lock. Google it.

Are the hinge pins not removable? I thought they were. Give that a try.

Why not ask the guy you bought it from to get you a duplicate key?

Buy a metal detector and look for the key, can't be that far away.
