Hi
Bought and installed the 70900071A speedo and the installation process worked out fine with no problems. Everything works (almost) Speedo ok, Tach ok, Clock ok, Gear ind ok, lights and so on, BUT! not the odometer part. My dealer controlled the ECM but everything look allright so we changed to a new speedometer with the exact same result.
Do someone have clue what the problem could be? Have an 07' Road King Classic.
Thanx
Anders, Sweden
Still have the original speedo to see if the odometer updates on that one? In anything that is mass produced, it is possible to have the same malfunction in several or all units. While not likely, it is possible there is a production run of these new speedos with the same factory error. I would think that the big Harley computer would be able to determine if the proper data is being sent to the new speedo for running the odometer. Do the turn signals still cancel automatically?
The old speedo was/is totaly dead so it is not possible. The dealer read the ecm but could not see anything wrong. Turn signals are still cancel automatically.
After installation you have to drive for about 42km or so before the speedo are "merried" to the ecm and that countdown did work on the tripmeter. (On both speedos) After that no signs of life...... :-(
Just asking if you watched the video? It shows you have to plug it into a connector under the seat near the battery
until it reads OK before you plug it into the speedo harness.
