See if anyone can make a good suggestion. After all day in the saddle yesterday the SG stock seat finally got to me. Funny it took a year to do that. So I need a replacement and this is what I need.
-Same seating position as the stock seat with the ability to move a little forward and back when needed. Can't stand being locked into a bucket style seat because I like to slide back once in a while
-A little more narrow at the thighs.
-Good passenger area.
-Obviously more comfort for me.
I imagine I could go a little taller of a seat if it was more narrow. I was blessed with short legs. I can just flat foot it now but if it was more narrow I would have more room to plant my feet. But if was just as wide but taller, I would have a struggle flat footing it.
I don't want a bar hopper seat, but I also don't want a big, puffy touring seat. Any suggestions???
Talk to Des at Ultimate seats. He has been makeing
seats for our Valkyries for years.Hewas just at a show
that I was at.He is now makeing them for our Street Glides.
Great seating and adjustable back rest.
Look him up.
I've had the same dilemma. I wanted a solo with a detachable passenger pillion, but it's tough to decide based on what you read here, simply because everybody seems to prefer something different.
Last weekend I went to my dealer and there were some touring bikes in the lot that had Mustang and Corbin seats. I just hung around till the owners came out and asked them if they would mind if I sat on their rides, explaining that I wanted to get a seat for my Street Glide, but didn't want to risk getting something I hated.
Well, the Corbin, to me, was as hard as a rock and moved me too far back. It was lower, but it seemed to be at the expense of sitting on far less padding than the stock seat. I liked the Mustang. It seemed to keep me at just about the same seat height, but was much more comfortable than the Corbin and narrower than stock. And it didn't move me back as much, which I can't afford since I'm only 5'8' and don't want to be reaching for the bars.
I'll back Bryan. Just got my stock seat back from Allen at Mean City Cycles, could be happier. Just tell him what your after as for as position and he'll get you there.
