OP, how tall are you? I have like 4 shields I swap on and off. My favorite is the 13" Freedom Shield. It does have the best build quality. I had a KlockWerks Pro Tour in 12" and it was good as well, but I prefer the Freedom. I have a 14" LRS Thresher that blocks a lot of wind, but it only goes on in the winter. Lastly, I have a 6.5" Memphis Shade that is great for around town.
I have an 11 and 10 Stingray from Long Ride Shields. Both keep the jetstream up over my head yet still allow me to feel the breeze. (16 RGS, 5-10 tall)
Nothing works near as good as a MadStad. You can adjust the height to exactly what you want and because of the air flow on both sides of the shield it throws the airflow higher above the top lip of the shield than any other style.
Hell I used to were a steam punk style leather top hat when riding my RGU and I had no issues up to about 65 mph! (can't do that on my CVO...sigh )
With the MadStad the calm air pocket on my RGU was much larger than the one my CVO Limited generates.
For the older models the Madstad is the way to go. I have one and love it. But I heard the new models, with the redesigned fairing, you do not see the difference a Madstad makes. Never rode one either way, so I don't know if that is true.
