How do you guys feel about the extended warranties? shouldn't a brand new bike function as advertised for more than one year without worrying about it? Just curious. Looking at a new Roadglide and just trying to play the right numbers.
My bike is mah ONE hobby (other than a couple...er, few...okay, quite a few guns)!! So ah DO opt fer the extended warranty - even did so with the Goldwings. Ah do my own wrenchin', but havin' the peace of mind that major issues will be taken care of make it worthwhile ta me!
For me the tire/wheel coverage sold it. Hope they honor it. Got the 7 year on my new Ultra. I plan on keeping it and from all my reading it is transferrable, so might help with resale value and speed.
I went with the extended warranty after they told me how much it would cost to replace a radio......
If there were never any problems, I'd hang out in the ShowDown forum all the time.
MAKE SURE WHEN YOU GET THE EXT WARR THAT IT GOES INTO EFFECT AFTER THE FACTORY WARRANTY
EX: 3YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERS THE BIKE FOR THREE YEARS FORM PURCHASE DATE.... THAT WOULD ONLY BE ONE YEAR EXTRA...BUT YOU PAY FOR THREE...
Be sure you understand what you're buying before you sign. The "extended warranty" is more than an extension of the time of coverage. It covers things that are not covered under the standard warranty such as road hazzard on wheels and tires. There are other items to consider but be sure you knw what you're buying.
I know ya said you were holdin' on2 your bike for a long time...... but it definitely helps the resell of your bike if you are selling it locally or on ebay..... now i'm sure thats just one more thing the dealer wouldnt take into consideration if ya trade it in, but who would trade it to a dealer and take there low ball numbers
Me too. Figure a new tire + installation is nearly $300 and it doesn't take long to pay for half the extended service plan. Add a couple of trips to the dealer (which have averaged me over $500 per repair) and it's a good value.
